I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first. While I normally like single parent characters, he was just a dick to have sent her away in the first place.

I received an ARC copy of Mr. Broody by Piper Rayne and this is my voluntary review:

3.5 stars -

🏒 hockey romance
♥️ second chance love
💋 childhood sweethearts
⭐️single dad

Henry and Jade are childhood sweethearts that eventually cut ties after college but their love for each other never breaks. Jade comes back home to be with her family while her mom needs help after a surgery and reunited with Henry. Sparks fly as their love for each other pick up right where they left off.

This was such a sweet romance and I enjoyed every minute of it. I couldn’t get enough of Henry and Jade and their love story. I cannot wait to read what happens next in this series!

The way these two just told us how much they really do belong together when they first lay eyes on each other *swoon*.

This is a classic “the one that got away” story and we get to see what happened for this.

There’s banter. There’s spice. There’s interfering teammates and little boys.

I loved Bodhi’s chapters. I was really taken aback that the authors included his POV in the book here and there without getting it secondhand through the main characters.

Henry and Jade’s story was sweet. They’re two people who grew up together, knew each other like the back of their hands and loved fiercely until they went their separate ways only for fate to bring them back together.

I am loving this series and I can’t way for the next book in 2025.

What a way to end my year.

Henry, Jade and Bodhi got 4,5🦋

The second interconnected standalone book in The Nest series features Henry and Jade. They grew up together and fell in love young but circumstances forced them apart in a devastating breakup. Henry has been traded to the hockey team where they grew up and Jade has come home after years of being away. So much has changed in their lives but they want to at least hash out their friendship.

This book had me crying!  Second chance romance isn’t as popular of a trope but I really love it when it’s done right. I could not put this down! I feel like every single book I read from Piper Rayne gets better each time. They did great with this series!  I hadn’t read the first book, Mr Heartbreaker, so I read that first. You do not need to read them in order but I prefer to read them that way.

Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Piper Rayne for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review!  This published on December 31st.

It amazes me how Piper Rayne can make me fall head over heels with every single book they write. I don’t think I could ever pick just one book boyfriend from their extensive list of swoony men, but Henry Hensley certainly doesn’t make it hard in making a name for himself.
Nicknamed “Daddy” in the tight knit chosen family of his hockey teammates, Henry appears to have everything in life together. He has the career, the discipline, the responsible personality, & he even has the son to solidify his daddy status. The only thing he’s missing is the one that got away.
Jade is a complete whirlwind. She lives life flitting from one location to the other doing what she loves…photography. But when her passion & livelihood is so easily shoved into a box in the basement, she finds herself questioning every decision she’s ever made.
Back in town to help out the family, Jade has every intention of lying low. She hasn’t seen Henry since she left eight years ago, and though he was her everything then, she has no intention of revisiting the one man who completely consumed her & then shattered her to pieces in their breakup.
I loved everything about this book! The way that Henry & Jade’s second chance meet cute happened, the way that Henry was so completely engrossed in learning who she had become, the way that Jade bonded with Bodhi, the way Bodhi set out to make sure his daddy was happy, the way that Henry & Jade finally realized that they were soulmates, & the way that everyone pushed so hard for these two to get their second chance happy ending …utter perfection.

Audiobook Review:
JF Harding completely captured the broody Daddy Henry. His ability to dive into the character always draws me in. Brooke Bloomingdale is new to me, but she was a perfect Jade. Her sweet yet independent persona shown through in the narration. And let’s not forget the full cast of side characters portrayed by Sean Masters, Connor Crais, Troy Duran, Teddy Hamilton, & CJ Bloom…this group just sets the audio apart onto a whole different level!

The multicast narration is amazing. I enjoyed the little chapter with the kid in it. It added somethingh special. This isnt a really deep or complex storyline but the audiobook was a great listen.
