Mandelbaum's translation is really great, and this is a foundational text. The first book I read for my PhD prelims. 550 pages. I think I will like it better as I read further in my list and pick up more of the connections with other texts on my list.
There were some stories that gripped me and others that I kept getting lost in. Maybe it was hard for me to appreciate these stories because I know so little about Roman mythology. Either way, I don’t think this was for me. Definitely outside of my comfort zone reading wise.
