I don’t normally wish a book to be over, but this one was so bad I couldn’t wait to get to the end.
There were so many things that were just off and weird about this! I get the point of it and I understand what the author was trying to do. BUT LORD.

Was not expecting this to be like an episode of Black Mirror but I’m glad it was! This one kept me gripped from beginning to end.

I enjoyed this well-told story. I think anyone who has ever wanted to move to NYC to 'make it' will be able to relate to the characters, and the cost one may pay in order to do so. It's an interesting futuristic setting about the power that extreme social media has over many people. While some of the plot twists were predictable, I didn't see some of them coming!

It was ok. I didn’t find the writing to be consistent and there were substantial portions of the book where you’re like “we get the point - move on.” It definitely feels more like a debut than a skilled masterpiece. And honestly, the characters are just SO one-dimensional.
Kudos for the brave concept, though.

Ooof, I’m not sure why I stuck with this one. I think overall premise was a good one, but the storyline just didn’t capture me.

This was the worst book I’ve read this year. The story is all over the place and it focuses on the least interesting parts of the story.
Also if you are an adopted kid (like I am) big ol TRIGGER WARNING. It feels at the beginning of the book the author intends to explore the emotional state of the women involved. But does so at such a surface level it’s hardly palatable. The way she talks about self harm, suicide, adoption, is so flippant it’s borderline offensive.
also no diversity whatsoever. It’s 2021 you expect us to believe there is not 1 LGBTQ+ character or person of color besides the SERVICE PEOPLE in 2016 or 2051?
The only reason I finished this book is to see how awful the ending could be and spoiler it was terrible. What a waste of time and art.

Very fun take on the apocalypse! The characters all start out kind of awful but then grow in ways that are super satisfying and interesting. Just enough silliness to make the very unsubtle lesson (too much social media=bad) feel not so preachy.
