“That sort of kindness, it gets into your bones. Once you’ve felt it, you can’t help but look for ways to pass the feeling on” - Beth O’Leary

➕ Multiple Overlapping Storylines, Unpredictable, Loveable Characters, Fun Easy Read
➖ A little more love/more Jane

Beth O’Leary ruthlessly tore me to shreds in a story that truly does require more than one read through.

She plays with perspective and withholds small pieces of information in order to shape a new narrative in order to have the reader build up a strong (false) image and understanding of characters and events before smashing it to pieces and leaving us to sit with the fact that we have been wrong from the jump.

The No-Show is just one of those stories you can’t really give your full thoughts on because they would be spoilers.

Just know that I am devastated.

CW: references and mentions to past miscarriage, recurring discussions and references to past toxic/abusive relationship, stalking, death/death of loved one, grief, brief self harm

It was intriguing how all of the three seemingly unconnected plot lines eventually all connected into one massive story. The way O’Leary writes about life makes you understand so much about these characters and their motives. I guessed the twist by the midway point so it wasn’t that shocking to me but i could see how it could have been. Audiobook was performed great, I just think that this is a one and done type of read for me to never think about ever again.

I loved it. So much more depth than you’d expect and I’ve caught myself rereading the ending a few times
