I'm only reading now because I want to know what happens but I'm in pain. The repetition of her abuse story (every 100 pages or so) and the "fated mates" is so rough. Also why are they ALL complaining so much? Can you like, go do something? UGh whatever. I need to know what happens so I will be continuing this (reluctantly).
I am rounding up to 4 stars for the sake of goodreads.
I have always loved Lyra's books and I was so happy to go back to Kalista yet again. Book 1 had me hooked and I was so excited to see where things were going to go with the story.
I love the plot line and I am just dying for book 3 because the cliffy just hurt, I mean ouch. That was wrong on so many levels and I just want to rage (in a good way).
However, I did not love the constant "I just can't get over what they did" it just got a tad redundant. While it was essential to the storyline for that trust and relationship to not be there, I didn't think it need to be mentioned so much. Especially with the other mates and it just sat with me wrong. I don't know. Maybe it was because Lyra has never really done relationships this way... I don't know but it was something that was new for me to overcome.
However, if you love Lyra and her writing then you will not be let down by this.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did but I struggled. The first 80% felt very slow and extremely repetitive. At one point I checked my progress and was shocked to see I was already 55% of the way in because it felt like nothing had happened yet. The ending I absolutely did not see coming though, and I without a doubt will still be reading the next book because I need to know what happens.
