This book was amazing.

I had originally picked this book up when I was still stepping my toes into Young Adult, and I'm so happy I waited. Now, after maturing and reading a lot, I can truly appreciate this novel.

Finch and Violet's relationship is one of the best I've ever read, and their interactions truly warm and break my heart immensely.

The subject matter discussed in this novel is a delicate one, and the way Niven handled it was--at least to me--one of the most realistic depictions of it.

I'm not sure what else to say, since I'm writing this right after having finished it and am desperate to sleep, but I HIGHLY HIGHLY encourage you to pick this up, for its one of the most beautiful and important book I have ever read.

But please be aware that the topics in this novel are also pretty sensitive to people, so it's better to read some other more well-written reviews to know if it's something you will be able to really appreciate.

Just...I have no words.

Please, read it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, I'm going back to review some books that I only rated. I came across this one and was like Oh God, this was such a great book. Turns out I said it out loud, so my husband just shrugged and was like "Reread it, then." What did I do?

Yeah, I cringed. Because as much as I loved this book, the thought of reading it again and having my heart slashed actually hurt.

But it's so freaking good.

But even my dark, depraved soul curls up in a ball at the mention of this book.

But it's so worth reading.

So, yeah. Read it, but don't hate me. Most important stories are hard to tell, but that doesn't mean you ignore them. And even if you're unlike me and you can move on with your life unchanged, I still think it's impossible not to take part of this book with you...because being a teenager is hard. Being a teenager who is different is even harder.
What happens when the odds are stacked against you?
Can anyone save you?
Can love save you?
Or, instead... what if you were you meant only to save someone else? What happens when they’re saved? What if you’re falling too far below the surface that you don’t know how to get back up without pulling someone else down?
Sometimes it's not the journey OR the destination... it's the person traveling with you.

4.5 stars.
I'm really unclear on what to say about this book. I don't even completely know what my feelings are about it.

This book was a solid 3 stars. I disliked it more than I liked it though. I disliked it because the voices of the two main characters were too similar, and I would often forget who was speaking. I disliked it because of the way Violet treated her so-called best friend, Amanda--half way through the book, she learns that Amanda has tried to commit suicide before, but she never sits down with her friend and says, "I'm sorry. I care about you." She never says anything to her friend about it except ask her friend what it felt like when she attempted suicide. She cares only about her boyfriend Finch, whom Amanda has seen at her support group for teens who have attempted suicide or have thought about suicide. There were other things I disliked, especially the insta-love and Finch saying, "You're not like other girls" (GAG). Overall, the book was also kind of boring. I know that there are people who loved this book, I just wasn't one of them. It still gets 3 stars because it really is not a 2 star book.

this book involved a lot of crying, let’s just say.
2 years later and i still consider this my favourite book, everything about it was so perfect that if i even consider writing a review it would be over 5000 words
i would just say to buy yourself a box of tissues and prepare to feel numb for atleast a week

“you are all the colours in one at full brightness”
“ultraviolet remarkably”
