My father perfectly described "The Alchemist" as a nice, little fable. As such, it's immensely enjoyable and a pleasant adventure.

Something in his writing style is off-putting. I didn't enjoy the self-help nature of the book either.
Maybe this is one of those books I would appreciate at a different point in my life.

I read this when I was 16yo and I remember to really really like this book. Now 11 years later I felt the erge to read it again and I stick to my opinion. It's the type of book with a motivational speech and some misticism that whenever read makes you think about your life at the moment. I like the fact that eventhough he's always making us believe that we should follow our 'personal legend', our destiny, and keeps say that it's the right thing to do, he also gives us examples of people who decided not to do it. They feel happier that way, showing not everyone feels the need to pursue great things and that's fine for them.

Wasn’t a fan, but took me like 2 seconds to finish so can’t complain. Don’t think I’m smart enough to enjoy the full underlying message of the story lol
