The wise men knew not to read this book.
Pseudo intellectual drivel, sexist, and overall pointless. No practical advice or help, just "go after your dream and everything will work out", and "live in the moment" nonsense.
2 stars because it was easy to read and I finished it quickly.

Do you ever read a book that just resonates with your soul and makes you want to cherish it forever? For me, this is such a book. There were some fragments where I had to pull myself out of the story to take the time to really comprehend what I was reading and the message behind it. Reading this book was truly a life-changing experience.
I contemplated DNFing this so many times. It took me a month to listen to a four hour audiobook. Why? Because this is complete and utter bullshit.
I only started listening to it because I was reading the Five Second rule by Mel Robins and she recommends this in her book. I completely hated her book and I already had a pretty bad opinion about Paulo Coelho's stuff, but I decided to give him one more time. Nope! Nope.
Do you know the biblical story about the man who had two sons and one went in the world and wasted everything and returned to his father a poor but redeemed man? This is basically a stupider version of that, about a boy who believes in faith and lets himself be influenced by people he knows nothing of.
I wanted to punch someone in the face whenever I heard the words "your personal legend". WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?! This whole book is this retarded boy meeting a stranger and the stranger telling him: "you are seeking your personal legend. Do this!"

This book is more than just a story of a boy in search of treasure, it is a deep philosophical story that delves into the value of the material world, belief in religion, and desire to achieve one's lifetime goal. I read this book back in 2022 for the first time and read this book while being confused, puzzled, and bored. I didn't understand that this book was more than just a book about finding treasure. I read it now and see that it discusses valuable aspects of life that everyone can implement. It made me question my belief in religion, how I see the world, and how and why God made this material plane. Paulo Coelho crafted the narration of the story so well that I felt like Santiago, that I was learning from the alchemist, from the old king, from everyone encountered along the story. This book is a fantastic read that requires time and deep thinking in order to fully grasp the value of the teachings.
If you’re gonna read it without any high expectations,
you’re probably gonna enjoy it more than I did.
