What a story. I went in hearing how good this book was so I lowered my expectations. But after finishing, I have to agree with the hype. The story kept me engaged, and intrigued. I knew almost from the beginning what was going to happen. It’s very predictable. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t eat it up like cake. Bring on the predictable twists and turns, I’m here for every bite.

This had dystopian elements, but it wasn’t truly dystopian. Very much romance over plot, surface level and more about the vibes than the worldbuilding. It had the potential to be so much greater than it was, and honestly, the dystopian aspects probably should’ve been removed if there was no plan to fully flesh them out. It felt like they took inspiration from Divergent and then just… left it there.
The romance became the heart of the story, overshadowing the politics and oppression of marginalized communities that were woven into the background. The “dystopia” happens off to the side while our FMC falls for someone who should be her enemy.
It’s entertaining and will definitely hold your attention if you’re here for the vibes and romance-first storytelling. But if you’re a true dystopian lover looking for depth and political grit, this might not be the book for you.

I so wanted to love this book. It had all the making for being the next Fourth Wing but it fell flat. I saw someone describe this as a book to make women feel better about about dating their MAGA boyfriends and that is definitely accurate. The worldbuilding also felt very flat and not fleshed out. I did have fun on a surface level though!
it was a good read, saw one of the twists coming and found the ending abit abrupt but overall it was good
I literally couldn’t do it, I wanted to for all the conversation but I am so uninterested because of the controversy. Sorry to this book.
