I picked up Silver Elite by Dani Francis after finishing the Red Rising Trilogy, so I was definitely in the mood for something with a different vibe. To be honest, this book felt more like romantasy than dystopia, but that’s not a bad thing at all! I really enjoyed it overall and flew through it in just four days. The pacing was quick, and the story kept me hooked, especially with its mix of magic, politics, and personal drama.
The focus on the enemies-to-lovers trope was a major highlight for me, as it’s one of my favorites. The slow burn between the main characters was definitely satisfying, but it did take a little longer than I expected to build up. In the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of the lingering tension—it felt like it dragged on a bit, and while some of that tension was necessary, I thought it could’ve moved a little faster.
The romantic subplot, though well-written, sometimes overshadowed the larger narrative. While I enjoyed the romance, there were moments when it felt like it took center stage at the expense of the main plot, which might not be what everyone is looking for in a dystopian romance novel. That being said, the chemistry between the characters was undeniable, and it kept me engaged throughout.
The world-building was solid, and while most of the characters were well-developed, a few secondary ones, especially the antagonists, could’ve used more exploration. They felt a little one-dimensional, and I found myself wanting to know more about their motivations and backstories. Still, if you enjoy magical systems, romance, and a slow-burn dynamic, Silver Elite is definitely worth the read. It’s a fun mix of fantasy and romance with enough twists to keep you turning pages.

I guessed most of the “twists” that were revealed. I wish there’d been some more world building, maybe book 2 will expand on that. Overall, I had a good time and was at the edge of my seat during a few tense moments.

feels like the FMC is just rambling and I’m not really attached to any characters…feels like everything is moving so fast but so slow at the same time…just not having a good time.

FMC was a little obnoxious but that’s nothing new with dystopian romantasy. I wasn’t clear who the MMC was for a bit, but enjoyed exploring his side of things. About 85% of the way through the book things majorly change and my interest was piqued. Cliffhanger after cliffhanger at the end leaves me ready for the second book in the series.

Pacy, dystopian, unique. Enjoyable! Grown-up hunger games meets divergent, with a mature magic system.
I did enjoy this book, however this could have leaned into the dystopian vibe way more than it did and the same goes for the magic. The magic was introduced in the beginning and then nothing became of it really until the end it was barely even mentioned for the best part of the book. The world building was pretty eh and a lot of the plot was predictable.
