I have to say there are some useful practices in here but a lot of this is introductory stuff, though it's understandable as it emphasizes that it's not a replacement for therapy. I think it would be a good starting point for someone who is either considering that they have or recently diagnosed with CPTSD. Otherwise, a lot of this is information that you probably already know of. I also think it was too vague in the "In Practice" sections at times, woefully insufficient in others. Nevertheless, I did learn of some exercises/techniques I hadn't tried already and some have been proven useful.

Altogether way too short for a workbook, I think, with unclear instructions and details in a few instances. The dissociation parts were also inexcusably too short and vague as that particular symptom is especially distressing for people with CPTSD and often extremely hard to cope with.

I went through this with my counselor. This book helped me a lot and I'll definitely use it again as I need.

I listened to this as an audiobook. For me, this book was at its best when giving an overview of the healing process and different treatment options. I found it to be a helpful anchor that yes, I'm doing the right things and yes, a lot of what I'm experiencing is to be expected.

The last chapter was the weakest. It felt like a generic self-care resource without being tailored to the specific challenges facing folks healing from c-ptsd.

Overall, a quicker, higher level look at healing from c-ptsd. Less helpful than Pete Walker's more exhaustive and explanatory book, but I found it to be complementary.

This was super informative and I cried every single chapter. Super validating to read and it made me feel hopeful for the future. Highly recommend this if you have CPTSD, it is super informative and gives you real examples that help you not only feel understood but it makes it easier to sympathize with yourself.
