I really liked this book. It was nice to see Slade and Auren grow closer and see their relationship evolve. The ending of this book had me gasping, crying, clutching my pearls. It was nice to see more of Slade’s past and more of the world. Auren has been through so much and although she occasionally slips on her journey she is so resilient. The relationship between Slade and Ryatt is also complex and interesting. There are lots of great written characters
and a lot to happen in the impending war.
I’m really interested to see where the series goes from here but I’m invested

The fourth book in this series. Auren is recovering from her battle. They are recuperating before they can go back to the 4th kingdom. But Auren needs to overcome some internal wounds as well. When they get to 4th kingdom, Manu is trying to get them to agree to release Auren to the trail for Midas’s death.
Slade does let Auren go. Manu kidnaps Auren and almost kills her. Slade. Just barely saves Auren, but does so by sending her back to the fae world. He can not get in from the new rip in thebworld he made. And when he returns to his original rip it is no longer there.

WHAT KIND OF ENDING WAS THAT WHAT THE ABSOLUTE HELL.

man this book is did an excellent job of working through characters’ trauma, doing more digging into who they are, and overall healing for Auren after all she’s been through.

There was a lot of shit that didn’t need to be in this book, the Osrik and Rissa stuff was such a waste of time (if you’re gonna do them, do them right? Don’t just do two chapters and expect me to give a shit about them when we could be spending more time with Auren and Slade? Stupid), and I find this author likes to be veeeerryy wordy and flowery, taking multiple paragraphs to make the same point in different metaphorical ways which also wastes my damn time. Also the pacing felt very all over the place, and that made pushing through this brick of a book a bit of a challenge.

that being said, the plot was enjoyable and exciting, the smut is absolutely filthy in the best way, and I still love my babies Auren and Slade.

*contains spoilers for previous books in the series*
I'm still processing everything that just happened but HOLY SHIT. This was absolutely amazing, from the character growth to the spice to the reality of newness when it comes to Auren and Slade's budding relationship. This book had everything I could've wanted and more and now the worst part is waiting for the next book, Gold, to come out (hopefully next year!). An extra special shout out to Raven Kennedy for writing this series because I honestly don't know who I would be without these books!
