Taking place in the same world as Tokyo Ghoul, the protagonist is Haise Sasaki who is the squad leader of the first team full with humans with ghouls power. However, before teaching them he needs to get used to his own power.

After reading Tokyo Ghoul, I'm curious to see where this story takes us.

******SPOILERS AHEAD******

Tokyo Ghoul : Re begins with a group of Half-Ghouls (Quinxes) working for the CCG under the mentorship of Sasaki Haise. It deals with how Haise struggles to unite and make his little team to cooperate. We meet Urie, a smart, sassy, goal-oriented kid who has unresolved issues surrounding his father's death, then we have Shirazu, a quirky delinquent and Mutsuki, a shy yet diligent kid.

From the beginning, I had my eyes on Haise, as he kept reminding me of Kaneki. But when the character was introduced as Haise, I was disappointed. Until, he turned into his SS Rate Ghoul form and surprised me!! That finger snap, that dangerous Kagune and that tilted head look, how badly I missed those!! I laughed so much (out of happiness) that I almost cried, I really missed him and it was only yesterday that I finished TG, lol.

Turns out he's working for CCG under the guidance of Arima and Akira and faces the risk of extermination if his Kagune acts out. I was completely tricked into believing it was a new character due to the drastic change in personality. Can you imagine Kaneki trying for a hug from Akira? But I don't understand why he's willingly (?) had his memories suppressed and he's referring to Akira and Arima as his parents. Though I admit, this confident, flirty, cheerful Haise is definitely stable compared to Ken Kaneki - The Ghoul, I realise he's not happy having left the Ghoul part of him behind.

Also, how fucked up does the CCG have to be, that even after witnessing the demolition a Half-Eyed Ghoul can cause, they are readily investing in the same?? If Aogiri and CCG are constantly creating such powerful Ghouls for their own sakes, who's even going to be spared in the end, who's going to win??

All things aside, I'm so happy that Haise (Kaneki) is alive and now we got to meet Touka and Yomo as well. Can't wait to read the next Volume!

Thoughts:
- OMG!!!!
- Very interesting how they changed so many things!!!
- My fave of the Quinx squad is Shirazu
- I also like how Arima borrows books from Haise <3
- I was shocked that certain ghouls from the previous series are making an appearance but now have different roles
- I am excited to see how the next volumes how and how long it will take for Haise to regain his memories!

Sobbing, crying, and weeping.

The relationship Sasaki has with Arima and Mado literally makes my heart swell.

Urie can kick rocks. Barefoot. Like, not him making my man cry, girl! That kid had better sleep with one eye open.

Somehow the art in this is even more gorgeous and well laid out. I forgot how much I enjoyed the beginning of :re, I wonder if it will fall off the way I remember too.
