A mercifully short read, this is probably one of the hardest stories I’ve struggled through. There is no hope, and for what? What is the message? What is the author trying to say? It is violence and horror for the sake of shock value. Avoid if you can, as no amount of trigger warnings can prepare you.

Is cozy horror a thing? Am I a psychopath that I found this book kinda cozy? I mean some truly horrific things happen to six year old kids in this book, like really horrible things, in fairly graphic detail but the style of writing and the narration of the audiobook is just kinda warm and cozy almost as if it’s daring you. I loved this book and will be seeking out more from this author and from this narrator to be honest.

I knew going into this it was a mystery where all the characters died; all 12 toddlers essentially. I wish the book had more to it than graphic descriptions of children dying in horrific ways but I can't say it does.

If you're expecting a mystery, a complex tale, fate and horror and supernatural entities I can assure you this book isn't that. It's children dying for several pages in graphic detail with no other storytelling & blindingly hard to follow POV switches.
