One star is for the plot with Brianna and Roger, the other one for the scenes when they finally got to Lallybroch. The rest of the book was all right, but it dragged a lot at bits (specially during the battle parts, and I wasn’t as big a fan of Ian’s/William’s chapters other than the first one they shared together). Also, *that* thing Claire did with Lord John was extremely awkward and unnecessary angst material for next book.
This book was slow to get interesting, but once it did, I was hooked and it flew by. Suddenly it ended. And the way it ended made me beyond relieved that I didn't have to wait for the next book to come out!! Its already there waiting for me. I did feel the big drama with Jaime was short lived and I didn't get the full impact because of the speed of things.
Bloody good series!!
The evolution of this plot and these characters are rivaled by few. This book, in particular, kept my near tears or holding my breath throughout. I have long since become connected to most all these dear characters. Just try and tell me they aren’t living and breathing beings. Just try.

2016 January or February reading no. 7 in outlander series. It's great! not a book club book
If it weren’t for all the unnecessary Lord John and William chapters I would have given it more stars. I’m here for Claire and Jamie snot Lord Fancypants and his drama.
