this is has to be one of the hardest books i’ve ever read. it was also one of the most beautiful. TJ Klune deserves all good things for that

This book was something I didn’t know I needed until I read it. I loved it. I cried. It brought me a sense of completion and hopefulness I didn’t realize I lacked. It’s funny, it’s sorrowful, and it makes me a little less afraid for the “after.”

That being said, take care of yourself if you choose to read this. It’s not always cheerful; the author explores death and all the unfiltered emotions that go with it. Despite that, I don’t think you will regret reading this book.

The characters were interesting and writing is great. Might be tough for people experiencing grief, but could also be reassuring.

This book…I have a lot of love for it.

The characters are all beautiful, well rounded and loveable. Normally I live for a few flawed characters thrown in, and even though there are a few, they still won my heart.

The story had my attention from beginning to end, and I just felt a huge amount of joy and comfort when reading it.

The ending BROKE ME. I cried. Nothing more needs to be said.

If I had one small complaint, it would be that the building relationship between Wallace and Hugo felt a bit YA, and as Wallace is written as a 40 something, this felt ever so slightly jarring. But I can let that slide for the fact that the rest of it was utter perfection.

While I did really enjoy this story and definitely think it fits the category of Cosy Fantasy, I found myself wishing for a bit more 'why' as to who Wallace had been and more of a journey to who he becomes, it felt quite quick. I also agreed with someone else that the ending was what we wanted but maybe not what we needed.
However, reading this book was incredibly soothing and comfortable, even as it dealt with painful situations. It has a real gentleness in how it handles the tough stuff.
