I think that Chuck Palahniuk reels you in with the first story and then it goes downhill from there. At first I thought it was really boring, didn't really understand where it was going, and then I got to Coras story. 
Personally, I don't think you can write about something like that for a grossed out reaction. It comes off as insensitive and slightly concerning. Gore has a limit and I think that limit is kids. Don't write about kids dude, that's super weird.

This book is disturbing. It’s a lot. I found my heart racing trying to finish stories as quickly as possible to get to the slower bits. I’m still trying to wrap my head around such a concept and the odd stories the characters share. It’s not too far from reality which I think is the most disturbing part.

This book haunted (har har, get it) my nightstand for months, waiting to be finished. Just couldn't bring myself to care what happened to the horribly unlikable, disgusting, 2-dimensional characters in their boring world. Probably the clincher was when a character doesn't notice her own buttcheek has been removed. 
If you want something like this book but good, check out the stories of Edogawa Ranpo, particularly the story 'the Red Chamber.'
