Note to authors: When you're writing a series, leave your readers wanting more. End on a high note. Don't drag things out until readers hate your books, but only keep reading because they've already invested SO MUCH time in the series. Your books should be getting more interesting and action packed towards the end of a series, not dragging and filled to the brim with filler.

This book could have been 200 pages instead of 800 pages, and still told the same story. This was 90% conversations, and 10% things actually happening. We had the same conversation probably 10 times. Sophie wondering if she should do something. Sandor (her bodyguard) stepping in and saying she absolutely should not. Then everyone arguing about it some more. And Sandor saying maybe they should see what her parents think. And then some adult surprising everyone by saying it's actually not a bad idea for her to do the thing. And then they debate about it some more for 50 more pages. And then she goes ahead and does the thing. I wish I was kidding. Two stars is generous for this book.

I really hope there is only one more book in the series, and the author won't decide she can actually drag this out just to make more money, even though she really doesn't have more story to tell. The start of this series had so much promise, but there is absolutely no reason this series needs to be 9 books that are 800 pages long. Middle grade readers don't have that kind of attention span.

Ok, so Shannon did amazing! ( as always ) It took me longer than usual to finish her books. ( it took about three weeks for me to finish LEGACY where I finished Flashback in less than a week ) But I believe it also took me a long time because I went to her book signing in Huston about a week ago and to me, it felt like I was done reading the book but I still had a good 80 pages left. This is the first time I had to wait for the next book and now I finally realize why they call Shannon the queen of cliffhangers!

I feel like this book was great, and I gave it 5 stars because it continued off the previous books quite well and the story of each character made me want to read even more. There were also plenty of plot twists, especially in the last 100-200 pages of the book. My only complaint is that this book had much less battles with the never seen and a lot more of just stalling. Nevertheless, this book was great in many aspects and I am very exited to begin book nine.

Update: did another skim to get ready for stellarlune, kinda puts things in perspective for what happened, hindsight man

OKay, so I did a really quick skim through to get ready for unlocked, even though I know unlocked barely has any new material, but I still wanted to reread this one. And let me tell you...okay, so the main thing that my perspective changed about was everything with fitz....Although he kinda acted like a dick, I can slightly understand why, even though it doesnt exucse his behavior by far. But least, at the end, he owned up to it and accepted her decision. MAKING WAY for Sophie to be with Keefe <3

**no spoilers were harmed in the making of this review**

"Embrace the change"

Hey guys, so I just finished Legacy (KOTLC 8) by Shannon Messenger. And I swear. After everything we had been through, this book. THIs.....goddamn.....book. It killed me. A book hasnt killed me in a while, and this book destroyed me. I have no other words, my brain is so frazzled and rattled right now, I have no idea where to begin. **Swallows** This book had the usual Messenger's writing and stuff, though to me some of it seemed more detailed than usual. And i do have one criticism, during the first half of the book, I was becoming a bit impatience and seemed to lose my interest because I felt some things felt like they were dragging on a bit much or seemed to overshadow some of the things could have been focused on more. Actually, there was ALOT that could have been focused on more, not just given some summary sentences or breeze bys. If it hadnt been so all the distractions that distracted the book...i mean, I kinda get it? Kinda? But at the same time....i dunno. But luckily, the book picked up and DAMN. WHen it picks up, it picks up. Like, its hard to put it down. It took me on a rollercoaster that goes up and down and side to side and backwards and twisty-you get the idea. Anyway, this book...well, it had alot of information, and most of it just leads to more questions?????? Like seriously. And the ending.....DONT GET ME TARTED ON THAT DAMN ENDING> I didnt think anything could have been worse than what was speculated in the beginning of the book regarding a character, but now having to wait anohter year, that might KILL ME> I SWEAR. **heaves breaths and breaksdown in sobs** i just cant.....i cant...**pulls self together, barely** okay...this book...it had humor, it had danger, it had parts that had me screaming, crying, gasping, raging, everything. Sophie is forced to deal with a ton of crap, more than she should. Her friends are trying to help her, and they really are. But yeah.....And fitz...i best not touch on that....And Keefe....OH MY SWEEET BABY KEEEEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFFFEEEEEEEEE. **heaves another breath** He is always the best part of the books. HIs humor, his affection, his wit, his everyhting. A keeper book wont be the same without the keefe we know and love **glares at author** Anyway, the book was better whenever keefe was involved. And the book has surprises too, catching me of guard because i had no idea about these and I wasnt sure I was liking the direction the novel was shaping out to be. Im still unsure. But the one thing i am sure of is that I WILL READ THE NEXT ONE. IM DYING. SO much needs to happen to redeem this book. So much. Okay, sorry my review is vague and rambling, but I cant let any spoilers slip, especially this far into a series. But people who have read the book might understand. In fact, I was hoping if any fellow keeper fans see this review of legacy, and have read legacy, they will shoot me amessage, because I am dying to talk to someone about what happened. So feel free to reach out. Anyway, Im done rambling, because there isnt much more i can say, not sure what else i would even say, cause my feelings right now probably couldnt even be read by an empath. So yeah...if you wanna find out what all the hype is about, read the series. Okay, talk to you later.
