A really interesting book for young girls to read. The book focuses on good and bad characteristics. The Christian examples and characters are awesome. The focus isn’t on just the good points, the author also lets the focus roam to the one’s in Millie’s life. A good fictionalized historically accurate book that is good for any aged girl to read. Not only girls but their parents also.

I am so GLAD they abridged these books. I read the original Elsie series, and let's just say they weren't very christian to me. Millie might have been better, because she was at least an abolitionist, but Elsie had a lot of problems, and considering Millie and Elsie are by the same author, I'm sure there were probably some problems in the Mildred Keith series to.
But there are no problems in this book. Millie loves God, but is not legalistic like the original Martha Finley books. Plus, this book actually has adventures that you would find in pioneering days, and the abridging was good and didn't make you feel like there was something lacking like some abridged books I've read. You could relate to Millie in these books, and her love for God was very inspiring. These are some of the best christian books I've read. I've read this series many times, but this book itself I've read about five. It's great for any christian girl!

This was pretty out of genera for me, and the only other book I've read that was similar to this I ended up hating. But a friend recommended it to me and let me borrow a copy, so I was determined to give it a try.
I really enjoyed it! It wasn't my favorite, but the characters were endearing and entertaining. The writing was clean and easy to read. The plot was not the most entertaining, but I did enjoy it all around and can't wait for the second one!
