I love this series!

This reminds me a lot of the Piers Anthony "Xanth" series but somewhat more up to date. But much like Xanth, the plot is really just a loose framework to serve up puns and pop culture parodies. If that's your thing, great. If you really want a solid plot, this book probably isn't for you.

Listened to the audiobook for the 3rd book in the Tales of Pell series, and I think it's safe to say it's my favorite in the series. Such a fun read. Also, I'd like tea magic.

A rollicking mishmash of parodies that somehow fits together like a jigsaw puzzle into a strangely heartwarming whole. Lovely funny characters, parodical and yet very serious and almost Discworld-esque worldbuilding, and some very cute otters.

In hindsight, I should have just DNF’d this book.

The jokes were that type that try way to hard to be funny that it ends up making them not funny.

I didn’t care for any of the characters expect Morvin who was only around for a few chapters.

Overall it was more cringe then it was funny.

It’s sad that the only real good things about this series are the titles, they are pretty witty.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Princess Beard by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne is the third hilariously entertaining installment of The Tales of Pell. Think Sleeping Beauty decides to start a new life for herself after she wakes up and become a pirate on a ship with quite the ragtag crew. Doesn't that sound like fun? For the most part, it really worked for me. I love how the authors are so successfully able to turn classic fairytale elements on their ear. I loved that here we get to catch up with some characters that we got to meet earlier on in the series. If you're a fan of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Princess Bride, I highly recommend giving this series a try.
