I found this book to be incredibly patronising. I almost wanted to go through with a texta and cross out all of the words by the neurotypical nitwit who wrote a foreword, not just to the book, but to each individual story, in which he explained that the authors "showed amazing insight", were "inspirational" and other such words that were clearly intended as supportive but came across as condescending. It was as though he never expected autistic people to be capable of living happy lives or writing eloquently about them. All these comments really put me off the actual writing (which is also footnoted by this same forweordist).
The stories themselves seem straightforward and perhaps would be good for a younger audience who wonders what direction their life might take.
It was in the parenting section of my local library, which I found confusing until I realised that the person who compiled the book never intended it for autistic audiences.
