Pretty fun but I had some troubles following the story and making sense of it.
However, I do wanna read more and see what happens. I think this will probably get a lot better as I get more into it.

Took a minute to get into because its aesthetics aren't mine - no harm to Roche or Milne but Tom Scioli knows my damage far more intimately.

Still, as a live thing, with characters and plots and a willingness to find new stories? Pretty damned good.

I really liked the muted colors and look of the book, but this was not a welcoming volume for the uninitiated.

We discussed this further over on Howe's Things: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/from-the-stacks-art-baltazar-franco-and-a-few-transformers

Yeah, rereading now that I OWN it. Obviously, I liked it if I'm buying it.

For the record: Driftrod.

I LOVE this series! The characters feel so real, the dialogue flows naturally, plot doesn't feel contrived- UGH. I could go on for ages.
Also the art makes giant robots move in believable ways and is clean.

While the first half of the volume was slow and a little hard to get into due to the fact that Transformers is a very popular and established universe, it does not turn away newcomers. It eases them to some of the lore of the series in a very approachable manner, and while it can still be a little confusing and minimal prior knowledge is somewhat needed, it is very appreciable how they introduced the continuity.
The characters and plot were very interesting and kept me engaged, the characters especially. A solid cast of robots of all sorts of personalities and motives.

Overall, solid introduction into this series, albeit a little slow and confusing in the beginning.

This is my first time reading a Transformers comic book in a long time. Kind of feels like entering a long-running story in the middle.

The art is gorgeous and stuff, but the story is a bit hard to follow. I heard good things about the series so I'll check out volume 2.

A police officer stating clearly his resentment towards the people he is supposed to protect and using PoWs to violently suppress protests was not the kind of spot on and timely social commentary I expected to see in a Transformers comic, but it worked perfectly.

These initial issues do a good work at both establishing the conflicting ideals of the Cybertronians and the colorful cast of characters of this series.

If the rest of the series is as good as handling complex themes and bring good characterization, then I'll agree with the many positive comments I've seen about it.
