I struggled to figure out what to rate this. Very slow at times and took me a long time to get into. I struggled to feel invested in the primary plot, finding the secondary plot lines more intellectually interesting and emotionally gripping. I like an unlikeable character and my favorite character in this is a satisfying unlikeable one, but I found Zhu to be an annoying unlikeable character. I was also not satisfied with the ending (and ultimately I found some of the main characters actions and reasonings flawed given the rest of the book), but know that there is clearly a second book.

Again, strange one to rate. Some things I enjoyed a lot. Lots of things I did not enjoy. Okay overall.

She Who Became the Sun es un libro que me llamo la atención desde que lo conozco y este año tuve el placer de leerlo. Siempre me gustaron los libros que tengan intrigas políticas y la guerra como fuente principal de conflictos. Me lleve mucho más que eso.
Suelo decir lo mismo, pero adoro mucho las historias de supervivencia y ver hasta donde puede llegar una persona por el simple instinto de ver otro día. Cosas como el destino y el deseo de ser alguien extraordinario aunque el mundo quiera decirte lo contrario.

The way Parker-Chan explored themes of gender and fate vs free will were interesting; however, I did not feel invested in the plot nor did the prose particularly work for me.
