I wasn't into it. Don't care about the story or the characters. Also, the character had a very young-sounding voice. Made it seem like a YA novel, even though it isn't. It didn't fit.

A big cast, some neat ideas driving the worldbuilding (there are spaceships *and* magic), and a fast pace. I mean it about the pace - these folks were always just about to get blown to smithereens.
I liked it, and I'll read the next one, but so far it's not a favorite (3.5?). Character personalities were thin in spots, and I felt like I shouldn't poke at the worldbuilding too closely. These are things that a 2nd book can fill in, so I'm hopeful it does.

It took me a bit at first to wrap my brain around a magic system in a Sci Fi world, eventually loved it. Pushed on through a couple bland spots. I liked the crew, their comoradery and interactions, and cared about them throughout. I found the fights and battles exciting. Overall, really happy to have read this Dragons & Jetpacks pick.
