This has too parts. The first is explaining what this particular genre of petroglyphs are (which is petroglyphs carved into rock faces by North Pacific Coast native Americans) and the archeology behind them, such as rubbing methods, dating and geographic spread. The second is exploring the religion of North Pacific Coast native Americans in ways that can give us clues to the intent and meaning of the petroglyphs. This is well written and researched, concise and accessable, and has lots of rubbings and some photos so you can see the art itself. Notably it doesn't tell you how exactly to locate any of them because it maybe isn't a good idea for someone without training making their own rubbing or perhaps violating the law protecting these petroglyphs. Anyways this is a good monograph on one particular artistic tradition local to me.
