Reviews with content warning for Domestic abuse - Part of Your World

This was my 2nd Abby Jimenez book and I again really enjoyed the writing but I didn’t like it as much as Yours Truly. I think part of that may have been the fact that I accidentally read Yours Truly first so I already kind of knew where this would lead overall. Also, I listened to this one on audiobook and I got a little distracted / bored particularly in the middle section and wish I had read it on Kindle or as a physical book as I feel like I would have enjoyed it a little more. I do really enjoy this world and am definitely looking to pick up Just for the Summer soon.

My first Abby Jimenez book, but certainly not the last. Such well-written characters with incredible chemistry and she handles complex issues, emotions, and relationships with such care and depth. The emotional manipulation and emotional/physical abuse depicted is tough to stomach, but inspiring to see being handled by empowered women and the people who support them.

Alexis and Daniel have an adorable meet-cute and their opposites attract romance is as fairytale-ish as the name suggests. I loved reading about each of the MCs navigating their insecurities - Alexis with her age and Daniel with his finances. They may seem like opposites on paper, but their dedication to upholding their obligations to their family really show the similarity of their characters.

The small-town and found family tropes hit perfectly, especially with the joke that the town itself decides to keep Alexis. The way nature intervenes to show these two are meant to be - all the signs, like the dragonflies - really added to this sweet story.

I also loved these important and beautifully simple words to for anyone handling trauma:

“I believe you. I can handle anything you need to tell me. You don’t need to protect me from the truth and I’m here to help you in any way I can. It’s not your fault. And you don’t deserve it.”

Such a cute and relatable romance. Not super spicy but there is a little bit scattered throughout. I definitely identified with Alexis, the FMC. The MMC was sexy in an understated way — most notably for his actions and the way he elevated Alexis to treat her like a goddess.

Really enjoyed the first book in this series and looking forward to reading the others! This book is full of lovable small town characters, family drama, trauma (TW assault and verbal abuse), friendship, and finding love where and when you least expect it. I loved that we switched between reading Alexis and Daniel’s POVs to really get the full story. Very quick and enjoyable read!

I loved every second of this story. Abby Jimenez writes really well and balances romance and more emotional/difficult topics in a way that portrays the characters as very realistic and lovable, yet with flaws. She handled the variety is domestic abuse really well and the challenge between the main couple was realistic, higher stakes, and took some soul searching for the characters to overcome. Though Alexis needed more therapy, for sure lol. Loved it!!!
