This book took me ages to listen to on audio, but overall I enjoyed it! Michael Pollan is an old favorite and so it was fun to return to his informative yet never dry writing style - would recommend!

This was really good, but just not as engaging as I expected it to be. The stories about opium and caffeine are fascinating.

Pretty disturbed that he says “peyote is sacred/spiritual and it’s not for non-indigenous people” and then goes on to test it out himself. Colonizers have no self control. Like are you really the person who should be writing about this and getting more of your white audience interested in mescaline?

Some interesting bits, but not as science-y as i was hoping for. Book should be titled, “this is Michael’s mind on plants.”
