Loveddd loved loved this, I didnt like the misogyny obviously, dude was really giving me „but your just a man“ vibes with his weird virgin metaphors but even though that would usually knock a book down a few pegs this one felt to good to give under 5 stars. I actually enjoyed reading it so much, the only reason i finished it so late was because i went on vacation but actually this is such an easy classic to read and it really inspired me to read and write more poetry. I would really love to read the letters of the actual poet writing to Rainer Maria Rilke but for now this book actually devoured. If i had someone writing to me like this id actually be the happiest writer in the world, you don’t really get that nowadays. I hold this book so close to my heart because the advice helped me not get slumped with doing what i love because of external influence. I really love this book, i actually read it again right now if i didnt have 300 other books on my immediate tbr.

Have to admit I was only half paying attention... can’t seem to get the hang of audiobooks. I always get too distracted doing other things.

the way that rilke wrote about solitude was very poetic and, along with some other things he said, really changed my perspective on being alone. the message that will stick with me the most is that the sadness that we feel is what brings us to the moments of victory, and that we must feel the sadness and solitude whole heartedly in order to reach our full potential. the way he spoke was beautiful and i’m sure the life of the person he wrote to changed positively with his letters.

Uhm don't really get whats the fuzz about - second half had stong moments but i guess the teacher-ish tone bothered me as it reminded me of a self help book
