idek why i bother reading this and finished it. (maybe because someone said that this book is 10x more better than You've Reached Sam) i really don't appreciate verse novels because i need more words in the story. SUBSTANCE.
It was bad. but it was a short read (thankfully)
the story revolves around the girl who tragically lost her boyfriend. which makes this a lil bit sad. but then she felt her boyfriend's presence.
even sadder, the bf don't wanna go to the light knowing that she was taking the guilt and blaming herself.
i think i would like this more if this was written in novel-like form because the premise was good!

novel in verse, a girl's boyfriend dies in a tragic accident, and she feels responsible and misses him terribly. then, she gets him back--in ghost form. severe limitations on their romance, to say the least. is this relationship healing or hurting her?

I picked up this book for a group read. I was not sure how I would feel about it because of the verse format. Turned out I liked it. However it was a very, very quick read. I realized reading this book that you do not need many words to tell a story. This was sweet story of moving on and having friends when you need them. Overall good book.

'I Heart You, You Haunt Me' by Lisa Schroeder is a novel written in verse with a supernatural twist.
Ava is a 15-year-old girl who blames herself for the death of her boyfriend, Jackson. Shortly after his funeral, Jackson reappears as a ghost, because he has some unfinished business.
Schroeder made Ava a believable and realistic protagonist in the ways she deals with her grief and guilt. I liked how Ava's family and friends were supportive of her and helped her through her grief.
Although there were a few happy memories of the time Ava and Jackson spent together, I would have liked to seen more. I also would have liked to see more of Ava's relationship with Jackson's family.
I liked how Schroeder combined the contemporary and supernatural genres in a verse novel. This interesting combination adds to the story's uniqueness.
I love how the novel was written in verse because it just goes to show how a few words can convey so much meaning and emotion.
Schroeder conveyed the powerful message that letting go doesn't always mean forgetting.

I really don't like verse books. But I had to read a verse book for a challenge on my group.
Let me just say this: Nevermore!
The story itself was good, a girl loses her boyfriend, she haunt her and she drifts off further and further.
The bad side, and the reason for the 1 star, is that it felt like someone wrote an absolutely wonderful book, then threw it in the shredder. Then they found out, hey these short sentences work really well, it looks fun.
While in fact, I felt like I was reading some easy English book, short choppy sentences and that kind of crap. It really distracted me of the story.
So 1 star. And verse books: Nevermore! I will just refuse if I have to read it.

This was a quick read that I will definitely be reading again. It is short and bittersweet, but beautiful and usually I'm not a fan of stories written in poems, but I loved this one.

I love verse novels,reading it is a sort of poetry but at the same time not. With this format it allowed the story to flow a lot better I believed then if written as a standard novel. I love that Lisa Schroeder was able to portray such a strong love connection in such a short amount of time. Overall this was such a quick read for me,I flew through it quick. I gave this book five stars not because it was the best book I've ever read but the emotion and beauty in this book is very relate-able and was so strong that it deserves five stars for that very reason. Verses such as
"I'm putting on makeup.
I'll be like a clown
and no one will see
the real face
behind the mask."
This is really connected you with the main character and how she masked herself to portray as happy and emotionally stable to her parents and friends.
Another one as one I loved was
"The stars are duller
than an old pocketknife
They used to sparkle
like five-carat diamonds."
This relating to a memory of the one shes loves was hard..its describing how every little thing that used to be beautiful used to have exceptional beauty now is dull and bland.
