I bought this book for my niece. It's a very sweet story about acceptance inclusion, resilience and self-confidence. The pictures are beautifully drawn as well. Just a really lovely story.

“That’s what friends do.” I liked the message in this book. Being nice is something we could all use a lesson. Sweet story about caring for others.

Our protagonist and his pet baby elephant is not allowed in the Pet Club Day. He finds another friend walking around despondently, then comes across another sad girl who has a pet bat. They make their own club!

My kids loved this book! They felt so bad for the little elephant and all the non-traditional pets. I saw a few of them on the playground using this mentality and allowed the kids that they don't usually play with play with them. It was such a cute little book with amazing art.

Adorable. A beautifully illustrated story of acceptance featuring a multi-ethnic cast of children and their unconventional pets.

The pictures are beautiful and the story is okay. I would use this in "pets-theme" storytime and talk about unusual pets.

A boy and his pet elephant want to join a new pet club in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the new pet club does not allow elephants in their club. At first the little boy is dejected, but finds new friends among the other outcast of the pet club. This is a great story about differences and finding your own community. Excellent book for preschoolers.
