Excellent! I loved it! Shan was the perfect point of view for this. I loved his inventor's heart and that he was courageous even though he thought himself a coward. Tirellian was heartbreaking in his stoicism and I loved how Shan got to him. The fantasy story was in perfect balance to the romance and was rich in detail and lore without being confusing. There were also great secondary characters that rounded everything out. I would love to see more in this world!

Nothing was wrong, I just couldn't stay focused enough to get through the first few chapters. I'll have give it another try later.

This felt like it had a lot of untapped potential. Maybe it’s selfish thinking, but there was just too much unrealized here in the story and in the romance. The ending also felt quite abrupt and didn’t come to a satisfactory conclusion.

Amy Rae Durreson is quickly becoming one of my favourite writers within this genre, when only because she has such a great knack for seamlessly interweaving satisfying romance tropes into genuinely thrilling plots. Like [b:The Lodestar of Ys|26132673|The Lodestar of Ys (The Stories of Ys, #1)|Amy Rae Durreson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1440043370l/26132673._SY75_.jpg|25983986], the worldbuilding and premise of this story are so intriguing I wish the author would rewrite it into a good old-fashioned 1000 page fantasy tome, but perhaps what it makes it so alluring is the briefness of the story and how much it leaves to the reader's imagination.

As with all her other works I've read so far, it has fascinating worldbuilding and characters I care about from page one. I wish there was more in this world.

Fabulous blend of fantasy adventure and very sweet romance. Amy Rae Durreson is the queen of slow-burn.
