I loved the interspersed historical grounding of Denmark in WWII and a bit before. I suppose because when I lived in Denmark it seemed like such a socialist utopia, it was really useful to see it’s darker history. It’s a bit shocking to read such a detailed account of how different the world was for women just like 75 years ago in a country that is lauded for being so progressive and equal.
I found myself googling if it was all real because her life was just so rich and overlapping. A really honest and personal depiction of addiction too.
