the hatamoto case has always been a banger. every single big family mystery after this were mere copycats of whatever crazy stuff the hatamotos had going on (also bonus points for that mother who knew everyone's secrets, i cracked up when conan reacted to her spilling the tea for like the nth time ijbol)

also ran being so close to figuring out shinichi's identity as conan this early on is exciting tho it loses a bit of novelty when u realize that she has been this close to piecing the puzzle tgt early in the story but we have gotten a hundred volumes by now and she's still left in the dark
