Brubaker's last issue was fantastic. Really nice send off that felt like some closure without being an ending, how perfect.

I don't get this series. It felt like 19 issues of filler. I'm glad to be done with it.

I think Brubaker set the cruise control after that first volume. Aside from some baffling political messages here, this was just kinda meh. The art wasn’t Davis’ beautiful line work. Instead, it was more of a gruff art that would have worked well for a story where Brubaker actually said something. Instead, we get this storyline that just didn’t have enough to sink my teeth into. On top of that, Steve never apologized for giving Sharon the cold shoulder and that sucked.

So, not a recommend and a rather lackluster farewell.

Brubaker goes out with a whimper and not a bang though there were plenty of bangs along the way.

That last issue deserves six stars.

The end of Brubaker's run on 'Captain America,' finishing up the better part of 8 years, if not a little longer. It's a pretty anti-climatic arc, feeling rushed and tired right out of the gate.

Overall, Brubaker had a fantastic run on this title; I just wish his final effort could have matched his first.
