Welp, it took 12 months to read the only book (that wasn't a re-read) that I actually loved this year. Idk if it's just because going on a religious mission for 18 months made me too prudish or what, but 2022 was a rough year for reading.

Also, I've decided that I need to move to Canada

“Rightly or wrongly does not matter,” she said. “People want a guilty person. If there has been a crime, they want to know who did it. They don’t like not knowing.”

Perhaps Atwood's best book, and certainly my top favorite of all her works: simply brilliant.

Brilliant use of research and her writing ability make this story of Grace, an Irish immigrant accused of murder, come to life. Based on a true story of the murder of a wealthy Richmond Hill resident it brings to life the Toronto scene at the time. Maggie even includes the sing-song verses newspaper boys read aloud to the illiterate locals.
