Project Hail Mary immediately draws you in. There's a conversational tone to the narration. You can instantly hear this voice in your head. What's more, Project Hail Mary begins with disorientation. You immediately want to know what happened, why is he here, and what does he know. Turns out not that much. As the novel unfolds, the flashbacks of his memories returning paint a story about the downfall of humanity, but also their hope. These fragments slowly come back to you as you piece it all together. I am a sucker for well done flashbacks and while Project Hail Mary certainly relies on them, I enjoyed it!

4.5 stars. This was my first true SyFy read (audiobook) and I really enjoyed it. I am excited to try more books like this.

Weir expertly explains hard science concepts in a way any reader can understand, and then riffs on them in such a believable way that you truly feel the events at issue could happen. Excellent read, enthralling from start to finish, and even some unexpected twists and turns on the way.

So much fun. The science and math can be overwhelming but the character's humor makes it all better.

Never imagined a sci-fi novel touching me this much, but wow I LOVED this book!! Even though 90% of the rocket science parts went way over my head, the characters and plot kept me invested 100% of the time. Friendship is such a beautiful thing
