More of a 3.5, but round down due to the book being advertised as a good book for Halloween. It’s just a good book of fiction, nothing particularly “spooky.”

Gets repetitive, also don’t get the whole “don’t be racist” thing then turning around and making your characters do what the racist ones expect.

Other than that good story.

Gritty. Sad. Even with sprinkles of supernatural elements this book seemed so real to me. It is about suffering and the lengths at which we will go for those we love. Especially when we are hurting. It’s about the way sometimes people use our otherness to manipulate the way we look at a situation. The ending left me speechless. Reminded me of Sicario, Breaking Bad, Hell or High Water. So good. Highly recommend. The Audio narration was amazing.
