Sweet and funny. I'm really liking the Smythe-Smith series.

Giving it the fourth star for the three younger sisters. Especially Frances and her obsession with unicorns.

Why must I read everything my friends loan me?

Oh my gosh I loved Daniel and Anna so much, what a dreamy duo! They are both haunted by their pasts--literally and figuratively--which makes their coming together and support for each other all the sweeter. The class difference here is actually handled really well, with a lot of recognition of the power dynamics at play in a way that feels realistic for Anna's character in particular. And the ending sequence is so full of high drama, I could turn the pages fast enough to see how these two get themselves out of peril and finally, finally let themselves find some joy.
