This one would have been a solid four if it had had another couple chapters. The romantic denouement was too abrupt and needed more of the male lead's thought processes shown. Also, it seemed like there was a dropped story element.

i guess i just expected more input in the story from his ex special forces female best friend. Was she the one who helped him figure his own mind out? What happened during the time they were apart that brought him to proposing? I have a feeling that the loss of that was an editorial decision having to do with length. I would love to read the version of the story that tells me these things!

one of the best things about this story was the male lead's female best friend. I am so tired of NOT seeing m/f friendships like that in popular media! It was great. I think I'm becoming a Donna hill fan...
