DNF at 160-170.Lord this was just annoying. How fucking sheltered is this girl. Not knowing her family is the only one doing Christmas 24/7/365???Is she 9 or 4?? It just got too cringy. Sad, because I was looking forward to it so much.

This is a fantastic read for Christmas! (Or September, as that's when it's actually set.)

The story is great and has a good message - that Christmas is a feeling, not presents and chocolate, and it's the feeling we should try and keep all year. Holly is amazing; I love how strong she is in her own beliefs and how she doesn't back down - but she does take advice and modify her behavious, which is the best of both worlds. She's brilliant.

My proof copy had only rough illustrations, but I can tell that they're going to be amazing, and there's plenty of them spread through the book. They have a lovely Christmasy feel and they really add to the story.

This is a fantastic read; I think it'll do really well this year, and I can't wait to read more of it next year!

(PS, also really happy at the neighbours storyline!)

First up this is a children’s Christmas book but who cares? It was brilliant! Devoured this in hours. It is beautifully illustrated throughout and I fell in love with this family who are Christmas obsessed and love to spread cheer. But not everyone understands that they believe its Christmas everyday… With Holly starting school will she be able to fit in with her peers and spread cheer?

A very festive, uplifting read. Heartwarming ending. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for this family in book two. Highly recommend. A well deserved five stars from me. One to Pop on your children’s Christmas list.

This book is SO SLOW. My daughter and I tried to read this together for the last 2 Christmas seasons and it’s just so slow moving we finally gave up. It had a lot of potential so it’s disappointing that it was so boring and slow.

“After all, did I want to be a reindeer that followed the crowd, or did I want to be a diva donkey with a taste for the limelight and a talent for spreading cheer? It was a no-brainer.”

a pleasant lighthearted middle grade book about a family who celebrate christmas all year round, and the impact their daughter going from being homeschooled to attending school has on that.

i think it’s a really lovely look at the meaning of christmas, how we view differences, coming together and whatnot. and i think the carrolls are probably right, we could all probably do with a bit more festive cheer all year round.

I never tought I would ever say this but: there is such a thing as too much Christmas.. Every single sentence in this book has some kind of christmas pun. It is just too much for me unfortunately. Otherwise it is a cute story with a wonderful message in the end and I could read about Archie forever. I just could have done without some of the puns.
