LOVED this. I do believe that this is one of Dr. Seuss's most dark, and "real" books, as there is no happy ending, but merely a call to the younger generation from the old to fix the world. The message from the word "UNLESS" impacted me deeply at the moment in my life and where we are now. This also reminds me exactly of the pipe-line people are currently fighting against. This will always be dear to me heart.
I think that in today's pollution and argument about global warming, this is much needed for children. Just realized that when the part with the word "UNLESS" comes around, I get shivers up my body. Damn good part.

Here from a humorous tweet that said the Lorax radicalized Luigi Mangione.
I never read this as a child, but it was so profoundly impactful for me reading as an adult, especially living in the Caribbean constantly exposed to the effects of consumerism and Global Warming. It also simplifies the reason why I left my career as a biologist and environmentalist. Every animal or plant I got attached to slowly started showing up on the IUCN Red List and no one seemed to care.
Fantastic read, and I hope we can all be better to nature, our giver and caretaker.
