I was really surprised that THE LORAX is a banned book. I used to read this story all the time as a child as well as the other books that Dr. Seuss wrote. The reason for being banned is because of the environmental issues that it addresses within the story. It shows the destruction of the forest because of industrialism.
In my opinion, THE LORAX should not be a banned book. It shows what happens when people stop caring about the world and use its resources strictly for profit. I think those values that it teaches are great for kids to hear.

The Lorax is a great book that teaches kids a great lesson. It's a fun way to teach kids about the environment and how to take care of it. It is an obvious lesson but its put in such a fun way that kids don't realize they are being taught something. I would definitely do a lesson with this book in my classroom.
I have LOVED using this in my class when I teach about human impact on the Earth.

Great book by [a:Dr. Seuss|61105|Dr. Seuss|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1193930952p2/61105.jpg]. It's quite a cautionary tale of environmental destruction, and very didactic, with those wonderfully weird illustrations.
