There tends to be a string of similarities in female-centric thriller novels that leaves me unsatisfied and perplexed at the high ratings coming from fellow thriller readers.
From the very first chapter, i had in mind what the plot twist would be, who would die and who would do the killing- all of which, I was correct on. This has the very same predictable twist as 'the silent patient', 'the other woman', 'the housemaid' and 'the guest list'- not to mention that I could also provide 5 or so other titles that follow the same ending.
Whilst I enjoyed those other books, some I rated 4 or 5 stars (With the exclusion of The Housemaid because that's when I realized how many of these thriller books seem to be carbon copies of one another), I am exhausted by it now.
Genuinely I read the first chapter, said to myself 'oh, watch it be this seemingly perfect fiancé with not a single flaw in the world', and then when I struggled with finishing this and skimmed to the end- low and behold, it was the seemingly perfect fiancé who had all the flaws in the world.
I enjoyed the writing style, the pacing was a bit slow but I also liked the leading characters and their differing dynamics but truthfully I am fed up with every thriller novel I pick up having the same, formalized ending. I've been reading thriller books since sitting my exams at the age of 15/16 and so you can probably understand now aged almost 23 how exhausted I've become of trying to navigate between thriller novels that don't stick to a formula and refreshing books with endings that genuinely shock me.

I was a little nervous when i started the story only because of how long the book was and i find some thrillers to drag at this length, but this wasn’t one of them. I enjoyed hearing and seeing all the characters perspectives and i found most of the characters interesting. The twist didn’t absolutely blow my mind but i really enjoyed the read still!

A hen party in Greece. A time for celebration and happiness. Wrong. More on the blog tour.

Not as captivating as I expected.
The multiple tragedies that happened before the crime itself were confusing and disappointing.
