I don't understand why everything has to be a series. This does not have an ending.

This is what happens when you indulge your inner child and buy the book you had your eye on in high school.
I really can't think of any redeeming factors for this book.
These teenagers are so fricken dumb. I thought this would be like a futuristic Gossip Girl, which is definitely what it was going for, but the drama wasn't even intriguing.
The worldbuilding is nonexistent-- the building exists, but it seems like so does a lot of New York, but maybe there's been some sort of climate crisis? And why do people live on the lower floors of this building, where they're treated like trash, if they can just live somewhere else? The constant name-dropping of all these fancy tech gadgets we didn't know anything about was honestly so annoying.
Oh and then there's the fricken INCEST. Yeah. This book went there. I would even say that's the main romance of the book.
Then there's the fact that no skin colors are ever mentioned until the very end, when the crazy drug addict is casually revealed to be black. That felt pretty yikes.
It wasn't even fun to get through, but by the time I realized how much I disliked it and how it wasn't getting any better, I was in too deep. I needed to finish it so I could rightfully give it a 1 star.

I wanted to enjoy this book slightly more than I did. It drew me in and was un-put-down-able, but more in the way a sketchy reality TV show is. The characters were vibrant and life-like, and while there were definitely some I rooted for, there were some that I was... less enamoured with, which is still strong characterization. I was hoping to find it a little less romance-y, but really, no major compalints. I think that it was simply not quite to my personal tastes.
