A case of bury your gays and contains incest. Most of the shitty characters seem to also be BIPOC which is a red flag. Why are none of the shitty people white?

I would actually give this book 4.9 stars. I like really really loved it and I think it’s one of the greatest book I’ve ever read.
I’ve seen a lot of people compare this book to gossip girls and actually agree with them and in the best way possible except for this kind of invest  but I think this book has everything a book needs to keep the reader interested it’s got mystery kind of murder it has romance maybe less smut than what I’m used to lol but it had friendship and betrayalin MULTIPLE POVS which  I really loved as almost everything about this book I wouldn’t give it five stars because but  I think it’s very close to flawless

I wanted to enjoy this book slightly more than I did. It drew me in and was un-put-down-able, but more in the way a sketchy reality TV show is. The characters were vibrant and life-like, and while there were definitely some I rooted for, there were some that I was... less enamoured with, which is still strong characterization. I was hoping to find it a little less romance-y, but really, no major compalints. I think that it was simply not quite to my personal tastes.

Futuristic Gossip Girl? I wanted to love this, but it is so full of unexamined racism and biphobia, not to mention incest and a super glossed-over rape scene. It isn't often that I start a series and don't finish it, but this one is a BIG no from me.

This had SO MUCH POTENTIAL!! So many things I loved. Unfortunately, the adopted sibling incest plot kinda ruined any desire I had to finish it.

The incest plotline is straight-up wack
it had complicated development and talked about complicated relationships both familial and romantic.

Definitely not a serious read, The Thousandth Floor is written like a Wattpad story. Overall, I found this book to be extremely messy. Although the dystopian concept of New York was an interesting touch, I found it so hard to understand due to the lack of the history of the tower itself. I often got confused when the characters were mentioned to be in an outdoor setting when really they were still inside the tower. Not to mention the numerous POVs which dragged the plot really slowly. I didn’t find any of the characters likeable at all, except maybe one or two. The diversity was evidently present, though, I wish there was more culture represented in replace of the random thoughts, banter and metaphors that made absolutely no sense to me.
Watt was definitely the unique character in my opinion. Him and the whole Nadia concept really complimented the “futuristic” part of the novel. Eris being revealed as an LGBTQ+ was also a nice touch, but it sucks that she died at the end. I was really looking forward to her growth along with Mariel because I feel like it all seemed too fast between them. Avery and Atlas on the other hand… absolutely despised reading their interactions. I hate how inc*st is normalized in this story.

Not gonna lie, I skimmed through some parts of this book, but the ending does have me hooked. I might as well continue the trilogy when I have the time.
