6/16/2021 - Update for audio: Cindy Kay and Ryan West were fantabulous. This production was perfectly in sync. I also really liked Kay’s male voices and West’s female voices.

I’m ready for book 3, You Spin Me. (ebook is out now, but I’m waiting for audio coming soon!)

6/10/2021 - Audio is $1.99 on Kobo.

Like It's 1999
A Boston Classics Novella
By: Karen Grey
Narrated by: Cindy Kay, Ryan West

Karen Grey had me at the first film quote! This novella is smartly written, hysterically funny and has a romance too! Alice and Steve have a chemistry, but the two have neither have intentions of marriage. Alice has to marry Korean to appease her family and would rather be alone, and Steve doesn't want to settle down. After being co-bridesmaids for their friends wedding, the two make a marriage pact for years later. But will they still feel the spark then? Alice and Steve are my two favorites of this series. The novella takes us through life as real as it can be, and makes us laugh and even cry a little. It's the perfect pick me up for an afternoon listen and if you are movie buff like me, you will love all the quotes!!

Ryan West and Cindy Kay are fantastic together. Each with perfect comedic timing and give each character the perfect voice. There are lots of emotions in this short and with the inflections and nuances these two use, we could feel it all. I enjoyed these to story tellers and would love to hear more from them.

What happens when two hot people don’t know they’re tired of meaningless sex but are also not ready for anything serious. The story spans over the course of 10 years there is no character development at all. It feels very real and silly in a typical rendition of the “I didn’t know I wanted them until they were taken” trope. The characters are likeable but one dimensional. For what they are, being love interests in rom-com I guess they’re fine. That’s what the story is- fine. The plot felt rushed and insignificant. You would think that in a dual POV there would be more insight into the character’s personal lives, but things like the main character’s miscarriages in a lifeless marriage are only brushed upon randomly, never to be touched on again. We don’t know how her very fresh traumas have now impacted her relationship to Steve, we just go about reading as if that didn’t even happen. The love of film motif is nice but overall, this book fell very flat for me. BORING!!

This was a fun retro romance. It was shot and sweet, and full of romance, movie quotes, & friendship that spans decades.

I loved this sweet story. The story started the year after I graduated from High school so it was all really relate-able to me! Alice & Hot Steve were amazing together. I finished the story but really wanted more! Looking forward to listened to the rest of the Boston Classic series.

Bound by movie quotes and shared experiences, these characters embark on individual journeys spanning over a decade. Time reshapes them, such as unfulfilling marriages and never finding the thing that makes you happy in life. This book throws in nostalgic things like bulky hard drives and the buzz of newly-minted Bluetooth. Through it all, their bond endures. The ending brings a satisfying resolution, acknowledging their growth while forging a future that fits both. It's a warm and relatable exploration of life's twists and turns, reminding us that sometimes, the best connections weather even the longest detours. Just like how some of the best friendships are forged over shared memories of friendly pranks and movies that live rent free in your head.

Hot Steve is back!

Oh man this book was so fun, and the movie quotes were awesome the fact that I knew most of them added to my love for this book.

We not only get Alice and Steve but we get a peek at Kate and Will what there wedding is like, what later looks like too.

I just enjoyed this book, I was smiling pretty much throughout. If you read What I'm Looking For then your not going to want miss out on this short because its just everything.

LOVED the narration as well Ryan West and Cindy Kay kill it with this performance.
