Beautifully written portrait of a city and it's inhabitants during the dead of night. Not much of a story to speak of, some bizarre, surreal, almost Lynchian interludes aside. Enjoyable from beginning to end, but don't expect the plot to go anywhere.

Was wondering about the next event that’s gonna happen and then the book got over. Didn’t really go upto the hype it created.

Murakami’s moody story set in Tokyo “after dark” splits the perspective between two very different sisters: on sister who wanders the shops and streets of Tokyo with a strange and charismatic boy, and one sister trapped in the world of sleep. Spooky girls, late-night adventures with strangers, brothels, weird TV people. What more could you ask for?
