Four stars (I liked it): a fast-paced, rapid fire action story with an interesting twist on the "locked room" plot. A strongly plot-driven narrative told from first person perspective, relatively light on character development but accessible to fans of espionage action films like the Bourne trilogy. I will not be surprised to see the rights for this picked up for TV or film adaptation.

This book is exactly why I love barely reading the synopsis and then forgetting them. I basically went into this book blind and it made the experience so intense. I was just expecting a spy thriller (as this was pitched for fans of Terry Hayes and James Swallow) what the author delivered was a spy thriller with a high stakes isolated murder mystery and I loved it! The constant threat of Anthrax mixed with a killer on the loose made for a very atmospheric read.

“If James Bond came from Yorkshire…” Say no more. Just take my money.

This is the irresistible premise of the brand new debut novel, Anthrax Island from DL Marshall, starring a brand new hero, John Tyler. Tyler is a Halifax lad which, put simply, means he’s hard as nails when he needs to be. And he needs to be most of the time...

This book is set on a remote Scottish Island where anthrax was previously tested. A small team of scientists and forces officials are there overseeing the decontamination of the island. John Tyler is a civvy engineer sent to fix a faulty door when his predecessor had died on the island. Almost immediately John realises there is more going on here than meets the eye. There are 6 people on this island and one of them is a murderer.
I quite enjoyed this book - i didn't know much about Anthrax Island and found this informative and thought provoking. As a character I wasn't sure about John to start with but there is more to him than meets the eye too and I really enjoyed the twist involving his character.

WOW!!!! What an absolute better of a book #AnthraxIsland is by @dannymarshallwrites ... every page increased the thrills, an almost claustrophobic setting that had me totally hooked and on edge! I LOVE #JohnTyler, a complicated, broken, driven man who has the coolest car in fiction! Brilliant book a total 5 ⭐ Star Read. I cannot wait for #Book2!!

I urge you to read buy it and read it!
