I have had this book on my shelf for sometime and to be honest I was attracted to the cover, I have been since I was a child. I loved the look of the artwork but I always found the style too advanced for me when I was at school.

Fast forward to the age 39 and I finally took the plunge. I really did try and finish this book. I am annoyed with myself for getting to page 225 and not being able to carry on.

I like my fantasy to have high stakes and I want to really care about the characters. Unfortunately this was not happening with this book. I need a more serious read, to me this was a mixture of Monty Python meets Fable video game.

The artwork is forever going to be awesome in my mind, but the writing style is just not for me.
