I'm not typically a fan of very British quirky humorous fantasy (not a huge Douglas Adams fan either) but I found this to be way funnier and more profound than I thought it would be. Doesn't overdo the quirk and has a lot of interesting commentary about cities, power, and morality. Didn't love the romance with its air of "they could both do worse but they can't do any better so they might as well date" when Vimes' personality flaws are that he's an unlovable do-nothing alcoholic and Sybil's "personality flaw" is simply that she is fat (and likes dragons, I guess), and also there is a pretty strong undercurrent of copaganda to this story that kept me from really loving it. But again, I liked it a lot more than I thought and I definitely want to read more Discworld in the future!

Probably my favorite Discworld book so far. It had the best romance, and I greatly enjoyed it.

If you want a quick-paced fantasy book full of action and humor, this is a good one. I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading it. I loved the characters, especially Carrot.
